This research aims to look at the dramatic manifestations of the liberation of the soul in Manichaeism
from an aesthetic point of view. According to the Manichaeans, the world is a mixture of light and
darkness, and man is the best manifestation of this mixture. The Manichaean religion, which spread
from Rome to India and from China to Arabia during Mani's lifetime, considers the mission of man in
this world to free the soul, that is, to release the particles of light from the prison of the body. Mani used
painting and visual facilities to express his thought in his holy book, Arzhang, and therefore, Mani's art
is more than anything based on visual and visual arts. In this research, in order to investigate the visual
effects in the Manichaean religion, first a description of the Manichaean myth and its elements is given,
and then its effects in the play are studied.
For this purpose, the lotus play has been chosen. It seems that Hamid Amjad, based on the Manichaean
myth and with the help of the symbols and elements of this myth, tried to show the idea of the liberation
and redemption of the soul in the Manichaean religion. The findings of the present research show that
this goal has been realized by using the symbols of Manichaeism in a dramatic and fictional narrativeand
by combining and using the elements of drama. The qualitative and descriptive-analytical research
method and the study sources have been collected in a library manner.
